The team, eighth in the Premier League, had a lot at stake in their FA Cup match on Saturday: a place in the Europa League, the chance to cement their manager’s reputation and, perhaps most importantly, a bit of pride – because that team is Manchester United.
United, one of the world’s most respected and valuable franchises, has fallen on hard times, coming off its worst Premier League finish since 1990 and eventually being ousted by rivals Manchester City.
