Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he wants to move to Fenerbahce after the Turkish giants announced that talks were underway.

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Roma in January following a string of disappointing results. He has yet to find a new job since leaving the Stadio Olimpico but appears to be on the verge of returning to the coaching bench.

Although Fenerbahce lost only one game last season and finished second in the Turkish Süper Lig, the club is now making serious efforts to sign Mourinho.

They last won the league in 2014 and after six draws over the course of the season they were again eliminated by Galatasaray. Fenerbahce have now announced that they have turned to Mourinho to end this horror run.

“Our company has entered into negotiations with Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the position of coach of the senior football team. This was announced with a view to our investors,” the club said in a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

Mourinho is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Turkish side, keeping him at the Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium until the summer of 2026. The Portuguese coach has broken his silence on his move and confirmed that he is keen to move to Istanbul.

“I have decided that I want to leave, but not everything is clear yet. I can’t confirm it officially, but yes, I want to leave. Difficult because we still have three rounds to go. [ Champions League qualification],” he told Sky Sports ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final.

“In Fenerbahce’s case, there are eight players at the European Championship. They don’t come to pre-season before the first round, so it’s difficult. But when I go, you know I like challenges. So when I go, you know we’re going to fight hard to get into the Champions League.”

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win Euro 2024 this summer and you can get your hands on the brand new Nike And Jerseys before the first whistle.
