French striker Kylian Mbappe is set to announce his future in the next few days after winning the French Cup with PSG last week. Mbappe is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer after deciding not to renew his contract with the French side, which expires this summer. Reports suggest the move could be announced as early as next week.

After beating Lyon 2-1 and winning his last trophy with PSG, Mbappe was asked about his next step but did not give much away.

“Because I think it’s best to finish the farewell. I just wanted to finish well. Everything has its time. I will announce my new club in due course. There are only a few days left until then, so there is no problem.”

It is still unclear whether the announcement will be made before the 2024 UEFA European Championship, which begins on 14 June.

“I don’t know yet, there are still a few details. The most important thing was to win and experience those final emotions,” he said.

“I always understood where I was, this unique experience of playing for PSG. Playing for PSG is something I would recommend. I was lucky enough to experience it. What I experienced, I wouldn’t experience anywhere else. Now I’m going to experience something different and I’m sure that will be magical too.”

Mbappe, 25, scored 256 goals in 307 games for PSG, where he won six Ligue 1 titles, four French Super Cups, four French Cups and two Coupe de la Ligue. He will now sign for Real Madrid after previously refusing to join the Spanish side in the summer of 2021 and the summer of 2022.

The Mbappe-Madrid duo should soon become a reality.
