Liverpool have offered Adrian a contract extension, but it was speculated that the Spanish goalkeeper would reject the offer and return to La Liga instead.
In the run-up to the summer, it seems more than likely that there will be a restructuring of Liverpool FC’s goalkeeping department.
While Alisson Becker has his admirers in Saudi Arabiahe prefers to stay in Europe for now and will probably stay this summer too.
However, the same cannot be said of Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian, who both face elimination this summer.
Both Celtic and Wolves have their eye on the Irish goalkeeper who seems to have outgrown his place on the Liverpool bench.
Kelleher has often impressed for Liverpool in cup competitions, but with Alisson clearly ahead of him in the pecking order, his playing time has been fairly limited.
The loss of the 25-year-old seems quite possible and the same goes for Adrian, who is now considered the third goalkeeper.
Earlier this week, Liverpool published their list of suspended players and confirmed that Adrian had been offered a new contract by the club.
However, there are now doubts as to whether he will extend his stay at Anfield. According to Sports worldAdrian has “put aside” Liverpool’s offer as a return to La Liga was being discussed.
It is believed that Adrian would be “happy” to return to Real Betis, who are looking to sign him as a replacement for Claudio Bravo.
Adrian began his professional career at Real Betis, making 32 appearances for the club’s first team before moving to West Ham in 2013.

Adrian really wants to return to Spain
When he spoke about his future at the beginning of the season, Adrian made no secret of the fact that he would like to return to La Liga one day.
“I would like to return to La Liga after eleven seasons in the Premier League. That would be the end of a cycle. I am still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37 years old,” he explained.
“You know, if you take good care of yourself as a goalkeeper, if you haven’t had any serious injuries recently and you’re feeling well, then training every day gives you the intensity that makes you competitive.
“I think Adrian still has a lot of time ahead of him and it’s true that I would like to return to La Liga. It must be a nice, interesting project.”
If he were to move to Real Betis, he would likely be an alternative option for players like Rui Silva and Fran Vieites.
Liverpool are looking for a new goalkeeper
With both Adrian and Kelleher potentially leaving the club this summer, it makes sense for Liverpool to consider signing a new goalkeeper.
Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has long been a target for the club and players such as James Trafford and Filip Jorgensen have also been mentioned recently.
Arne Slot will certainly not want to be left out in this crucial position and will be keen to sign a new number two who can challenge Alisson for his starting place.
