The two Manchester clubs have dominated the Premier League era. Together they won 20 titles. This means that since the Premier League was founded in 1992, the title has landed in Manchester more often than not.
Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City and Liverpool are the only other clubs to have won the English top-flight league title in the Premier League era.

Most English championship titles
Of course, football existed before 1993 and Liverpool largely dominated English football, especially in the 1970s and 1980s.
Before joining the Premier League, Liverpool won 18 league titles. Including the title they have since won under Jürgen Klopp in the 2019/20 season, this gives the team a total of 19 English league titles.
However, this is just under United’s total of 20 titles. The Old Trafford club won the top prize seven times before the Premier League era and a further 13 times under Ferguson in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.
City have overtaken Everton with ten titles in total after completing their triumph under Guardiola in 2023/24. Arsenal (13) remain in third place, while Aston Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland have all won six or more titles.
