Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton has become a transfer target for several European clubs this summer. The talented midfielder enjoyed a successful season on loan at Hull City in the Championship, his second such loan spell.
Morton began his football career at Liverpool FC after turning down an offer from Everton and joining the Merseyside rivals at the age of just 7. The defensive midfielder made his professional debut for the Reds in 2021 under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp, who highly rated him.
Liverpool has a new management. Arne Slot, who replaced Klopp at the end of the 2023/24 season, is already the team’s coach. The former Feyenoord coach will have to do without most of his regular players at the start of pre-season. The reason for this is that they are playing for the national team at UEFA Euro 2024 and the Copa America 2024.
This gives younger players like Morton a chance to impress, but the 21-year-old is already attracting interest from elsewhere, with The Times reporting that the England Under-21 international is eyeing up Sevilla and RB Leipzig for a move this summer.
Morton scored three goals and provided five assists in 39 league games for Hull City in 2023/24 from his midfield position. He also shone on loan at Blackburn Rovers in 2022/23 and is ready for a shot at regular first-team action.
The young midfielder will look to speak to the new manager to see how he is viewed ahead of next season. He will hope to impress the new manager in pre-season in order to play regularly next season.
Liverpool show interest in experienced French midfielder – reports
Liverpool have reportedly made contact with French midfielder Adrien Rabiot to discuss a possible move to the club this summer, with the Juventus player’s contract with the Italian giants expiring at the end of this month.
Sport Italia reports on the Reds’ interest in the 29-year-old, who is representing his country at the ongoing 2024 European Championship. Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the former Paris Saint-Germain player, who has received a contract offer from Juventus to extend his stay in Italy.
Liverpool are clearly looking for a new midfielder and a move for Rabiot makes sense both stylistically and financially. The Frenchman arrives as a free agent and will immediately improve the Reds’ midfield, having played at the highest level.
