Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have outscored Roma in signing a striker with 20 goals per season.

Mourinho joined Fenerbahce last month and his task is to lead the club to their first Turkish Süper Lig title since 2013/14.

Last season, the Istanbul team picked up 99 points, winning 31 times and losing only once in 38 league games, but lost to arch-rivals Galatasaray.

But Mourinho’s arrival has given Fenerbahce new hope; his performance in June attracted thousands to the club’s Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium.

And with former Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin already signed on loan, sports journalist Nicolo Schira claims the club are close to signing Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla before turning to Mourinho’s former club Roma.

Last year, En-Nesyri scored 20 goals in all competitions, including 16 goals in La Liga.

Shira A tweet initially said: “Fenerbahce are in advanced talks with #Sevilla about Youssef #EnNesyri. The Moroccan player has already made his availability known to Jose Mourinho, who is looking to sign a new striker. Talks are ongoing to reach an agreement on salary.”

He later added: “Youssef En Nesyri is getting closer to Fenerbahçe. Personal terms agreed for a contract until 2028 (5 million euros/year). Fener has overtaken #ASRoma and two Saudi clubs: Fenerbahçe is now working on an agreement with #Sevilla, who are demanding 20 million for the sale of the striker.”

When he joined Fenerbahce, Mourinho declared: “This shirt is now my skin. Your dreams are now my dreams.”

The former coach of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham has quickly strengthened his team.

Fenerbahce have already signed former Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu, AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic and Turkish full-back Levent Mercan.
