Chelsea turn to Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen to solve goalkeeping problem

Chelsea have turned to Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen as Enzo Maresca looks to solve the Blues’ goalkeeping problems before the 2024/25 season begins next month.

The West London club signed two goalkeepers last summer, Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic, but neither of them were satisfactory for the new Chelsea coach.

The Spaniard’s signing was unusual as he was the number two at Brighton and Petrovic was expected to play the entire second half of the season after an injury. The Serbian was good in goal for the Blues, but Maresca would like to have reinforcements for that position at Stamford Bridge.

Accordingly Fabrizio RomanoChelsea have now approached Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen to complete a deal. Talks with the player have already begun. The Swedish goalkeeper is said to be interested in the move, but nothing is on the horizon at the moment.

The transfer journalist states that Mads Hermansen is also on the London club’s list, as Maresca worked with the 24-year-old at Leicester City last season.

Both goalkeepers are very young for this position as the Premier League club’s board continues to try to build a young team at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have contacted Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen

who is Chelsea has Filip Jorgensen in its sights?

Jorgenson is a 22-year-old talent who became Villarreal’s first-choice goalkeeper last season after coming through the La Liga club’s youth academy and making his debut the previous season.

The Swedish goalkeeper played in 37 games for the Yellow Submarine and only kept a clean sheet six times in what was a difficult season for the club.

Jorgenson has caught the attention of many clubs as he is a very modern goalkeeper and the 22-year-old is exceptional with his feet. This will be one of the biggest attractions for Chelsea, but it is still a big risk to hand the number one shirt of a Premier League club as big as the Blues to such a young player.
