Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho talks about his time at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho believes he has given Los Blancos the most he has ever given a club. The Portuguese tactician spent three seasons with the Spanish giants after winning the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan.
The Portuguese tactician left the club after falling out with members of the Real Madrid dressing room and returned to Chelsea for a second spell before moving to Manchester United. Mourinho recalled his years as manager at Madrid and said (via GOAL):
“I felt completely comfortable and felt like I had nothing left to give. I can honestly say that I have given more to Real Madrid than ever before. I left with peace of mind, I left without wanting to take out the dirty laundry.
He added:
“When I left it was a team that had played in the semi-finals of the Champions League three times in a row, they had been Spanish champions, they had won games at home and abroad. There were small and large differences. I left and it was difficult for the others to say a lot of good things about me.”
The former Manchester United manager is currently without a job in football after being sacked by AS Roma this season. He will be pleased to see his efforts for Real Madrid continue to bear fruit with the club aiming for a sixth Champions League title since his departure.
