Tottenham transfer rumors: Two more players could move to the Turkish team

Tottenham are likely to make a lot of transfers this summer, and nowhere more frequently than in midfield.

Danish defensive midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has already been linked with exits and, given Spurs’ efforts to find players on the wings as well, it is looking increasingly likely that Dejan Kulusevski will become a mainstay in Ange’s attacking midfield role.

Amid rumours of Giovani Lo Celso’s transfer to Spanish club Real Betis, Galatasaray have now entered the race for two Tottenham midfielders.

According to Turkish news agency SabahGalatasary have been linked with a transfer of Hojbjerg, citing “hot developments… [on the] Player front and club level” (via The Spurs Web).

Perhaps even more surprising is the information contained in the report that Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was offered to the Turkish team through his agent.

The interest is in line with inquiries from other clubs, although it was perhaps not expected to come from a club outside of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ given that most of his connections are Spanish.

The deal could well go ahead if the Turkish club are willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price. The two sides have had a lot of links in the past, with Tanguy Ndombele spending time away from north London in the Süper Lig last season and Davinson Sanchez moving permanently.

Bentancur, on the other hand, may be a less realistic deal in the context of Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou’s shared long-term growth plans.

The 27-year-old midfielder struggled in his first season as Ange Postecoglou’s coach, largely due to an injury that seemed to hamper the player’s development and recovery following his cruciate ligament tear the previous season.

Still, with the right offer and perhaps a new player from Tottenham’s midfield shortlist, anything is possible.
